The Last Of Us

Assassin’s Creed IV, Batman: Arkham Origins, God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, and Lost Planet 3 are the Writers Guild of America’s 2014 nominees for outstanding achievement in videogame writing, the labor union announced.

The winner will be announced during the 2014 Writers Guild Awards on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Previous winners include Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, written by Richard Farrese and Jill Murray; 2012’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, written by Amy Hennig; Assassins’ Creed: Brotherhood, story and scripting by Patrice Desilets, Jeffrey Yohalem, Corey May, Ethan Petty, Nicholas Grimwood, and Matt Turner; Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, written by Amy Hennig, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, written by Haden Blackman, Shawn Pitman, John Stafford, and Cameron Suey.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was written in collaboration by Darby McDevitt,  Mustapha Mahrach, Jean Guesdon, Jill Murray, and Mark Llabres Hill; Batman: Arkham Origins by Dooma Wendschuh, Ryan Galletta, and Corey May; God of War: Ascension by Marianne Krawcyzk and Ariel Lawrence; The Last of Us by Neil Druckmann, and Lost Planet 3 by Richard Gaubert, Orion Walker, and Matt Sophos.

Editorial aside: I feel pretty confident that The Last of Us will walk away with this one, but I feel it’s worth pointing out that Lost Planet 3 had really, really good writing. Haven’t finished ACIV to comment. No idea what Batman and God of War are doing on this list.
