WWE 13 Reveals Two New Match Types: ‘I Quit’ And ‘King Of The Ring’

Posted on September 21, 2012 AT 02:40pm

More content has been announced for WWE ’13, with two new stipulations getting added into the series’ newest installment. This year’s return to the “Attitude Era” now includes King of the Ring and “I Quit” match types.

Both match variations have a lot of history in the WWE, with “I Quit” tending to be the more brutal of the two.

Most famously, the 1999 Royal Rumble featured an “I Quit” match between The Rock and Mick Foley (in his Mankind identity) that saw Foley take a cringe-worthy amount of physical abuse, including multiple chair shots to the skull and face.

King of the Ring has been around since 1985, fashioned as a single-elimination tournament.

In WWE ’13, King of the Ring will support four, eight, or 16 wrestlers between one or two human combatants, with various selectable match types in each bracket.

Interestingly, the “I Quit” match type will have the loser fighting to not verbally submit with a mini-game that scales in difficulty depending on damage and the two wrestlers involved. It generally sounds like a remix on submission match types, but the execution on the win condition will definitely be far different from that.
