Xbox 360 ‘About Halfway Through’ Its Life Cycle, Microsoft Rep Says

Posted on June 24, 2011 AT 05:25pm

This generation of game consoles will end up having a longer life than previous generations, and that’s something Xbox’s EMEA VP, Chris Lewis, agrees with.

Speaking to gaming trade magazine MCV, when asked about the Xbox 360 and how it is doing in terms of console lifecycle, Lewis said, “We see it as about halfway through. But yes you are right, Xbox is defying the normal curve you might expect. There’s no doubt that Kinect put a huge shot of adrenaline into the business.”

The reason? Kinect, of course. With a wider audience now getting into the console thanks to the new full-body interactivity peripheral, the Xbox 360 should still have a lot of life left in it: yes, even if Microsoft drops hints of their next console as they are rumored to do next year.
