Microsoft’s continuing expansions to the Xbox 360’s app collection now includes NBC, which has released a news app on the Xbox Live service. It’ll feature broadcasts from a variety of NBC news programs, and is available to download now.

Not one to be left out the fun, Europe is also getting an Xbox 360 app release, but for movies.

British Sky Broadcasting Group has also launched “Now TV” for Xbox Live, which streams several films in 720i resolution from the Sky Movies archive.

Like Netflix, it requires an additional monthly fee on top of Xbox Live, although there is the option to go the cheaper route and just pay for single film rentals. Either way, it’s more competition for Netflix, the perennial movie king.
