Xbox 360 Minecraft Playable at MineCon

THE BUZZ: Minecraft developer Mojang today announced that the special Xbox 360 version of the game will soon be playable by the public for the first time.
That chance will come as part of MineCon, which takes place in Las Vegas on November 18th and 19th. The event is being sponsored in part by Microsoft, and the company will be bringing the Xbox 360 version of the game along to let attendees give it a go months before the title’s official release.
EGM’s TAKE: As a big fan of Minecraft, I’m not sure yet what to think about the game coming to the Xbox 360. It certainly could be interesting when running on a console, but the Xbox 360 version has been announced as being in some way integrated with Kinect—an element that could bring an interesting new twist on the game, but which could also make Minecraft feel like a total gimmick. Really, if I had had a choice of gaming hardware to come to, I’d probably have picked the 3DS—the game would look great in 3D, and having the stylus would be a perfect means of control in leu of a mouse.
