The Xbox One’s backward compatibility program saved the best for last and finally introduced the Call of Duty game we’ve all been waiting for.
In a recent post on Twitter, Xbox’s Major Nelson confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is coming to the Xbox One’s backward compatibility program, accompanied by a sale for the game on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

While Modern Warfare 2‘s BC launch is of little surprise, it remains to be seen what comes of our remaster prediction. We believed it was being saved for a remaster when developer Infinity Ward launches its next Call of Duty installment in 2019. Call of Duty 2019 was reported to continue the Modern Warfare subseries, making Modern Warfare 2 a prime candidate for an accompanying remaster. Its backward compatible release may not negate this possibility, but it does make it seem less likely.
