Xbox Live 2013 Update Public Beta Registration Now Live, Bye Bye Microsoft Points

Posted on July 5, 2013 AT 03:07am

Microsoft is now accepting public beta applications for Xbox Live’s major 2013 update, which will see Microsoft Points finally scrapped in favor of real-money.

“It will include updates to improve overall performance and the ability to conduct transactions with local currency, as Microsoft Points will be retired later this year,” Microsoft’s Major Nelson wrote on his blog.

To sign up for the beta all you have to do is turn on your Xbox 360 and select the Xbox Beta Program tile that appears on your dashboard. Then simply accept the non-disclosure agreement and you’re good to go. The tile is due to go live across the world throughout the day, so if you don’t see it just yet don’t panic as it will appear at some point.
