THE BUZZ: Well well—seems the first piece of Mass Effect 3 DLC was briefly put up on Xbox Live when it wasn’t supposed to be.
EGM’s TAKE: Alright, look: From here on out, you’re probably going to read spoilers. Understand that? Don’t read on if you don’t want spoilers! I’m warning you!
*** SPOILERS BELOW ***
Alright, still here? The first piece of DLC is called “From Ashes”, costs 800 MS Points ($10), and will be released on the same day Mass Effect 3 launches. The Xbox Marketplace page contained this description:
“Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3: From Ashes.”
We talked before about the fact that a Prothean support character was revealed in the ME3 art book, so it looks like this is how you’ll recruit him.
While the DLC was quickly pulled, BioWare’s Mike Gamble come out with the following statement:
Hi all!
We’re happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector’s Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge. We’ll have a lot more details for you later this week! Stay Tuned!
So, there you go. But man—day-one DLC. I don’t like that idea. I never like that idea.
Also, here’s the banner that was used on the xbox.com page for the DLC—if you’ve come down far enough to see this image, then don’t yell at me! I already warned you that there would be spoilers!
