Xbox Live Outage Due to Human Error
Posted on October 4, 2011 AT 06:16am
THE BUZZ: For those of you unaware, Xbox Live was down and out for a couple of hours yesterday, bringing fears of hacking back into gamers hearts everywhere. Luckily it was just someone making a mistake.
“The root cause of this outage was human error. A change resulted in an interruption to normal traffic flow within our datacenters, which logged users out and prevented them from logging back in. We’re sorry for this, and we’ll be updating our processes to prevent this from happening again in the future,” said Microsoft’s Eric Neustadter.
EGM’s TAKE: Looks like somebody pressed the wrong button in a big way yesterday, luckily the problem was fixed quickly and it shouldn’t happen again until next time.
What do you think of the downtime being a result of human error? Leave your thoughts below.
