Microsoft’s upcoming switch to real-money purchases on Xbox Live could mean that prices may rise by as much as 30 percent in the U.K., according to users currently beta testing the latest update.

In the current beta all Xbox Live prices are listed as real-money values instead of the usual Microsoft Points. You’d think this would be a straight swap, however it appears that prices have been hiked up following the switch. To add insult to injury the remaining point balance transfers do not reflect these new prices, so MSP are now worth less.

  • Content at 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40) now costs £4.49
  • Content at 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80) now costs £8.99
  • Content at 1,200 Microsoft Points (£10.40) now costs £11.99
  • Content at 1,600 Microsoft Points (£13.60) now costs £14.99

This Xbox Live update is due to be pushed live to everyone later this year.
