Yakuza 6 debuts NA trailer for Clan Creator minigame

The Yakuza series is almost as famous for its minigames as it is for its street-brawling core combat, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life promises to carry on that tradition by distracting players with darts, baseball, spear-fishing, and babysitting. Now the most interesting addition to the series, Clan Creator, has its own English-language trailer, giving players an idea of what to expect from this odd strategy minigame.

Players will recruit characters to Kazuma Kiryu’s clan by finding them in-game and fighting them (or by entering codes in-game that can be found in the trailer, which we’ll detail below). Once recruited, players can spend experience points in upgrading their clan’s fighters, then upload their clans to fight other players’ clans. While most of the battles are AI controlled, players can perform critical attacks in game. It basically looks like a Yakuza version of Minion Quest from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions.

The trailer includes two clan creator codes that will net you free characters, including one of the “Six Lunatics,” actual professional Japanese wrestlers who are basically the bosses of Clan Creator and, we’re assuming, Kazuma’s prize recruits. Entering BLACKPANTSKOUMEI and MYSTRYMANSATSUKI in Yakuza 6 will net you free characters, and if you have the time and patience to search them out, Yakuza’s online interactive comics are also a good source of Clan Creator codes.

For more info on Clan Creator, you can check out Yakuza 6‘s official site.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will finally launch in North America on March 20th for PlayStation 4.
