Sega’s Yakuza Studio has announced the first entry in a new line of Yakuza games that will tell stories set in Kamurocho, Tokyo after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

The title of this first game will be Yakuza Online, a free-to-play game for PC and mobile that will star new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga. Kasuga is a former member of the Tojo Clan’s Aragawa family who was born and raised in Kamurocho. In 2001 he was sentanced to 17 years in prison and is now returning to a Kamurocho that is very different to the one he left.

Yakuza Online is scheduled to launch in Japan in 2018.

In other Yakuza news, Sega’s Yakuza Stusio also announced Yakuza 2 HD remake Yakuza Kiwami 2 and a Fist of the North Star game inspired by the Yakuza series.
