Diablo

It’s something that players wouldn’t have thought twice about 20 years ago, but it’s worth pointing out today: the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo III won’t require any additional downloads beyond what’s on the cartridge.

As revealed by PC Mag (via Destructoid), Diablo III will come with the entire game on the physical cartridge. Players will be able to plug it into their consoles and play, without having to clear up space on an SD card or spend time waiting for an additional download.

The Nintendo Switch comes out of the box with just 32 GB of internal memory. While Nintendo tries to keep game sizes small, players hit that cap fast. L.A. Noire, for example, takes up 27.4 GB of memory alone. Some of the system’s most popular games also take up huge chunks, like the 14.3 GB needed for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or the 13.8 for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Download two or three games, and you’ll need to buy an additional SD card in order to keep playing.

Diablo III doesn’t yet have a release date on Switch, but should be coming later this year. It’s out now on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.

You won’t need extra Switch memory to play Diablo III

For once, an entire third-party Switch game will be contained on the cartridge.
