Activision Blizzard is about to open up the Overwatch universe in a whole new way: Lego toys.
While not many details on the upcoming Lego toy line have arrived, a press release today revealed that the Overwatch‘s merchandising will be expanding significantly. Hasbro has now attained the master toy license for Overwatch—thus the recent announcement of Overwatch-themed Nerf guns—and Lego Group now has plans for “multiple Overwatch building sets across various price points.”
It’s not clear what the content of these Lego sets will be yet, but the building sets could include locations straight out of the game’s maps, especially the entirely original ones like Horizon Lunar Colony. We can also likely expect to see many of Overwatch‘s characters receive Lego minifigures (and it’s probably a safe bet to say that Overwatch‘s cover girl, Tracer, will be included in the first batch).
It doesn’t seem like the Lego sets will be the only upcoming Overwatch toy lines. Hasbro’s license will let the toy-making company produce “a wide range of play experiences” that will specifically include “more” than just the line of Nerf guns. With the Overwatch apparel line also opening up, thanks to a deal with Uniqlo, Overwatch fans will find much more merchandise on their store shelves in 2018 and beyond.
