The Legend of Zelda

Reports of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s release date are jumping all over the place, with leaked amiibo dates indicating March, recent rumors saying that the game will miss the Switch’s launch and come out in a later month, and Target’s online store setting a shipping date for June. Now, though, GameStop’s come out with its latest earnings report, and the retailer’s calendar seems to indicate that the game will launch in March after all.

The relevant information appeared on a slide describing the retailer’s “Focused Marketing Calendar.” The calendar is divided into quarters and shows, as the name implies, which tiles GameStop will focus on marketing during each quarter. Breath of the Wild appears in the Q1 category, which covers the months of January, February, and March. Here’s a picture, captured by GameSpot.

Of course, it’s important to note that this calendar isn’t divided up according to release dates, but marketing periods. However, it would make sense for GameStop to most heavily advertise a game when that game is close to its release date. Additionally, other games in the same category?such as Mass Effect: Andromeda?definitely are confirmed for Q1 releases.

So far, Nintendo has yet to comment on any of the release date rumors. The only word from official sources has been a vague “2017.” We may find out more during the next Nintendo Switch presentation, which will occur on January 12th.
