Future installments of The Legend of Zelda series might employ downloadable content, according to series producer Eiji Aonuma.
“We’re certainly looking at different ways to add on content that would enhance the experience for the user—maybe more places to explore or just to enrich the experience beyond what is on the disc,” Aonuma told Nintendo Life. “But we also have to take into consideration that if we charge for this content then it needs to be worth it for the suer. So it’s certainly a balancing act, but I can’t say that it is something we’re not considering.”
The next proper installment of The Legend of Zelda—one for Wii U—has yet to be announced. An HD remake of The Wind Waker is set to release before year’s end, and a sequel to A Link to the Past—A Link Between Worlds will be coming to North America November 11th.
