Zeno Clash developer Ace Team has announced a new IP, Abyss Odyssey, that combines elements of platformers and fighting games, a teaser website reveals.
Abyss Odyssey will also borrow from the roguelike genre, specifically randomly generated environments. As players explore these areas, the enemies they encounter won’t be one-off, quick encounters, but rather fighting game–style showdowns between player and combatant, with combatants touting move sets as complex as the player’s. After defeating an enemy, players will be able to absorb them and play as them, utilizing their individual move sets.
No word yet on a release window or platforms, though Ace Team’s previous works—the two Zeno Clash games and Rock of Ages—both wound up across PC and consoles.
The indie studio did release a reveal trailer, however, that contains gameplay footage:
