Super Smash Bros. creator and game director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed a pair of alternate costumes for Zero Suit Samus, according to Miiverse.

Based on her appearances in Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission, the suits show off a skimpier Samus in blue and orange shorts respectively.

The alternate costumes were a last minute addition that Sakurai explains was the work of one dedicated designer.

“Looking at the number of days we have left for development, it would be an impossible task to create this… That’s what I told my staff,” said Sakurai. “But thanks to the determination of her female designer, these Zero Suit outfits got completed in time. From the ending of Metroid: Zero Mission, here’s Samus in shorts! You can use the same outfit variations in both the 3DS and Wii U versions.”

These new costumes are the second significant announcement for Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS in the past week as it comes hot on the heels of it officially being revealed that Kirby’s friend/rival Meta Knight is returning to the roster.

Super Smash Bros. 3DS will be available on October 3, while Super Smash Bros. Wii U is listed still as a Holiday 2014 release.
