Back in the PS2 era, everyone paid a good 50 dollars for a Metal Gear Solid 2 demo disc that happened to come with a sleeper hit title called Zone of the Enders. But will it work a second time?
We’ll have to see, as Konami has announced that Zone of the Enders HD Collection is officially set for an October 30th release date, and will come with a free demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
However, the demo’s not exclusive to the attached game, making it a timed exclusive.
(Eventually, you should be able to download it on PS3 and Xbox 360.)
It’s not a surprising tactic, but given how ZOE and its impressive sequel have built themselves into cult classics, one has to wonder—how much will Raiden help Zone of the Enders HD‘s sales?
Personally, I’m still hurt about the way Hideo Kojima lied to me with the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo. Pretty much the only way that could be fixed is if it turned out Metal Gear Rising only let you play as Raiden for the first hour, and then the rest of the game as you taking over as Solid Snake.
