Paradox Interactive – GAME was a Bully and this is Karma

THE BUZZ: Paradox Interactive doesn’t feel sorry for U.K retailer GAME’s current predicament and says that it is karma.
According to Paradox the retailer has been “abusing” its power and “bullying” partners for “a long time.”
Executive Fredrick Wester explained that publishing partners turning their backs on GAME is simply karma.
“GAME has basically been bullying people around and now it comes back to bite them on the ass,” he told GameIndustry International. ”It’s been abusing their situation in the U.K. for a long time but it always comes back to you.”
“Look at EA and Nintendo, they’re not even willing to help. They will take the hit just to get rid of GAME and start over,” Wester added. ”One of the biggest problems is they haven’t behaved nicely to other people, so it’s karma.”
EGM’s TAKE: One thing they always warn about climbing to the top is not to step on those below you to get there, especially since on the way back down they are all going to stick the boot in. This is what appears to be happening to GAME as more publishers slowly turn their backs on the retail giant. It is going to have to make some friends fast if it wishes to avoid disappearing from the high street entirely.
