Bastion on Chrome Web Store

THE BUZZ: Google’s new Native Client technology enables developers to create high-end games directly in Chrome, and Supergiant Games is one of the first developers to take advantage of the tech. Bastion, their hit XBLA/PC hit has made it over to Google’s Chrome Web Store. Chrome users will be able to play the prologue for free, and if they want the full experience they can have it for $14.99. On its website Supergiant Games showed a lot of enthusiasm saying:
We’re very excited to have Bastion now available on Chrome since it makes getting into the game easier than ever before, and opens up the experience to tons of new players… including players using computers other than Windows-based PCs.
You’ll still need to have the right specs to play Bastion on Chrome, but the requirements aren’t too high. You’ll need:
- Processor: 1.7 GHz Dual Core or Greater
- Memory: 2 GB
- Hard Disk Space: 1.0 GB
- Video Card: 512 MB graphics card (shader model 2)
(Note: Gamepad controllers are not supported in this initial release.)
EGM’s TAKE: Well played Google. Create a great browser, add great features to it, streamline its controls and then add hit games like Bastion to the mix. That’s how you dominate the browser wars. All we need now is for someone at Supergiant Games to sit next to us and narrate our daily adventures on the internet in a deep, stylish accent. On second thought, maybe that wouldn’t be the best idea.
