Playstation Network Glitch
Posted on February 5, 2012 AT 07:52am
THE BUZZ: It seems like recent maintenance on the Playstation Network in Europe may have triggered a glitch which prevents users from re-downloading content they’ve already purchased, as well as purchasing new content from PSN. A community manager on the EU PlayStation Forums said Sony is aware of the issue and is currently still looking for a fix. He also assured users that there is nothing to do on their end and thanked everyone for their patience. Originally thought to only be affecting Playstation Plus members, it has now been confirmed by other users that the issue is affecting many more. The community manager also took time to reassure everyone that their content was still available and that the glitch is currently affecting the console’s ability to access it. Affected users are getting error #80023102 when trying to download games, movies, or demos from the Playstation Network.
EGM’s TAKE: Given its track record, Sony’s swift response is reassuring, but we are sure there will be some users that wish it was even faster. The fact that content has not been erased is a big deal and would have been a much worse situation for Sony. Being able to access our purchased content at any time is a critical aspect of digital delivery services like PSN. Being unable to re-download that content is the worst case scenario for many gamers. Hopefully, this will get resolved as soon as possible and everyone can get back to renting movies, buying games, and trying out demos.
