Sony: PlayStation Network Down For Maintenance This Monday, Oct. 15
Posted on October 13, 2012 AT 11:10am
Don’t plan on doing too much online stuff with your PS3 this coming Monday, as PSN will be down for some under-the-hood work most of the day. Nothing major will change, though, until a bit later.
Next week’s downtime is scheduled to shore up the network before October 17th, when the PlayStation Store gets a total refit with a new streamlined interface.
As Sony notes in their support forums post:
If you’ve signed onto PSN over the past few days, you’ll still be able to play online and access apps during this period, but you may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management as these services will be unavailable. Be sure to sign in now if you wish to access the Network during this maintenance window.
Thanks for your patience during this maintenance timeframe, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
As reported earlier this week, the changes will be functional and design-centric, with Europe getting the first update on October 17th, with North America following up on October 23th.
On October 15th, the PlayStation Network will be down from 4 a.m. PT/7 a.m. ET until 4 p.m. PT/7 a.m. ET.
