Twisted Metal Will Utilize Online Passes

THE BUZZ: Sony has confirmed that gamers will have the privilege of entering a code to access the multiplayer mode in the upcoming car combat game, Twisted Metal. Back in December, much was made of David Jaffe’s comment about game’s focus on multiplayer being a such a huge factor that he hoped an Online Pass wouldn’t be utilized, lowering the barrier for entry. Unfortunately for Jaffe, and gamers Sony has confirmed the the exact opposite. Gamer’s on a budget looking to buy second hand copies of Twisted Metal will have to pay an extra $10 to access the multiplayer mode, which according to Jaffe is the “bread and butter” of the game. Twisted Metal is expected to come out February 14.
EGM’s TAKE: We agreed with Jaffe, he understood that losing sales now was not as important as rebuilding the brand and creating a new fan base for future installments. In either situation I am sure Jaffe and Sony can agree, if you want the game support the developer and publisher and buy new.
