I had a chance to get my hands on Nintendo’s Yoshi’s Woolly World during the Preview Night of San Diego ComicCon 2015. Here is a video of the entire first stage from their demo.

I honestly wish I had more time to show you more stages, but I will say I was nothing short of impressed with my brief time with Yoshi’s Woolly World. It’s a throwback to the SNES-era and Yoshi’s first major starring role in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island (minus the baby) in terms of how it handles and I was shocked at how quickly the control scheme came rushing right back to me. It played tight, and as simple as that first stage was, it was still a ton of fun.

Combine that with the unique, cutesy art-style that developer Good-Feel first introduced in Kirby’s Epic Yarn?which looks absolutely gorgeous by the way in HD?and Nintendo and company look like they are primed and ready to show once again why they are considered the kings of platformers.

Yoshi’s Woolly World is a Wii U exclusive and will be available for purchase starting on October 16.
