The Walking Dead Comes Shambling to Facebook
Posted on March 10, 2012 AT 09:10am
THE BUZZ: They’re coming to get you Barbara, and they know you’re addicted to Facebook. The hit comic book turned hit television series, The Walking Dead, is being made into a social game for Facebook. The game has players gathering friends and creating a posse to help defend themselves in turn-based combat. Throughout the game, players will come across characters and familiar locations from the show. Friends unlucky enough to get killed can actually get infected and join the horde of undead, or you can put them out of their misery with a well placed shotgun blast. While the game isn’t set for release until April, fans looking to to join the fun can “like” the game and hope to secure an invite for themselves. The Walking Dead Social Game is being created by Eyes Wide Games and RockyYou.
EGM’s TAKE: While most social games tend to bore us to tears, this is right up our alley. Nothing speaks to our paranoia like leaving our friend to bleed out in the streets because he may or may not be infected. If you want to gauge society’s reaction to a Zombie apocalypse, make it mandatory to play this game and see how quickly Herbert Spencer’s theory of survival of the fittest kicks in. We’re sure we won’t make it through the night.
