Brandon Justice

Bio: From humble beginnings as a fansite editor who once got banned from dormitory dial-up before he dropped out to join the editorial circus, Brandon’s spent the last 17 years in the game industry wearing hats as an annoying retail weasel, an overly opinionated journalist, and game-development ninja until he got tired of the all the caviar and groupies, returning to the ring as a rowdy, rambling writer in 2010. Nowadays, he whips out words for the EGM crew while making fun of Eric’s gaming preferences while doing his best to prevent Ray from turning green and smashing s***. Good times.

Gaming MO: Brandon’s digital vices of choice include sports games, action games of the first- and third-person variety, and games that have the sack to ship without a marketing-made subtitle on the front of the box.

Need for Speed: The Run

By
Posted on November 14, 2011 AT 11:59am
Growing up, Burt Reynolds films were always a guilty pleasure of mine, and few have inspired more “someone ought to make a game outta that movie” chatter than the legendary Cannonball Run series. And while EA didn’t exactly shell out the cash to make an actual licensed product, they did the next best thing and ripped off the core concept, fused it with The Fast and the Furious, and crammed the concept into the 18th entry in the Need for Speed series: The Run. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

By
Posted on November 10, 2011 AT 11:02am
Role-playing games just ain’t what they used to be. The days of pulling together a party, trudging through turn-based combat systems, and suffering through 10-minute cutscenes in one’s quest to save the universe are definitely on the way out, and while some may lament the loss of this tried-and-true style of swords, sorcery, and storytelling, there’s no doubt that Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series has done a lot to change the way we see the genre, focusing on open-world technology, real-time combat, and an impressive emphasis on freedom of choice.
