Sitting in a posh hotel room in the heart of Las Vegas, I get my first look at Dark Souls: Prepare to Die—the upcoming PC release of From Software's brutal-yet-beautiful adventure game. If you want proof of the power Japanese game developers can still wield, look no further than From Software's Hidetaka Miyazaki. Miyazaki is the director of both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls—two games that found audiences where some thought there'd be no audiences, and which conquered the West when some thought the games would die in those territories. Brian and Stewie’s adventures in the multiverse. Peter versus the giant chicken. The greased up deaf guy. These are just some of the hysterical moments we think of when we think of Family Guy. Now, in its 10th season and with nearly 200 episodes under it’s belt, including several seasonal and movie based spoofs, it is time for our favorite family from Quahog to invade the digital realm in a way, well, you just might not be ready for. Xenoblade Chronicles director Tetsuya Takahashi always has big ideas, but he’s a bit like a Japanese Peter Molyneux in many ways—he’s developed a habit of biting off a bit more than he can chew. Thankfully, he hasn’t let those experiences affect his grand visions—he’s still thinking as big as ever when it comes to his game worlds. Instead of merely piloting a giant robot like in Xenogears, Xenoblade sees you walking across an absolutely gargantuan titan for the entire game. READ MORE
