By
Posted on March 29, 2012 AT 09:00am
The art of a video game can be just as important as any other aspect that goes into what makes or breaks a game sometimes. The color palette, the lighting, and the style itself, whether its going for a realistic look, a hyper-realistic look, or one of the EGM crew's favorites, cel-shaded, are all critical factors to the visuals of a game. So, being that they are video games and since the guys love it so much, we here at EGM have decided to compile a list looking at our Top 5 Cel-Shaded Games. READ MORE

Assassin’s Creed III

By
Posted on March 26, 2012 AT 04:41pm
The Assassin’s Creed universe has become one of gaming’s most dynamic and fluid on-going stories as it explores history in a unique and thrilling way. Turning some of history’s most interesting personalities and settings into some of gaming’s most interesting sidekicks, antagonists, and levels, you never really can predict where they are going to go next until Ubisoft reveals the next step themselves. And now that they’ve pulled the veil back on Assassin’s Creed III, the questions have all shifted. Fortunately, EGM has some of the answers. READ MORE

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2

By
Posted on March 26, 2012 AT 08:00am
For a lot of shooters nowadays, the idea of patience is taboo, like it was some naughty word. Run and gun has become synonymous for the most part with these shooters, especially those of the first-person, military-based variety. The folks at City Interactive though feel there is still a strong base of gamers out there who would enjoy a more involved simulation that rewards you for taking your time, being precise, and not making a sound. And with that idea as their base, we here at EGM were more than ready for our demo of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. READ MORE

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

By
Posted on March 23, 2012 AT 03:00am
At a Junction Point event earlier this week in Austin, Texas, company president and creative director Warren Spector had an unexpected, shocking revelation for the gaming industry. No, it wasn’t the fact that Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two exists—that, as Spector joked, was one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry. Instead, the big shocker was the fact that, in Spector's words, Epic Mickey 2 will be the “first musical comedy game in the history of videogames.” READ MORE

Darksiders II

By
Posted on March 22, 2012 AT 03:26pm
Earlier this week, EGM editors Ray Carsillo and Brandon Justice traveled to the hellish halls of San Francisco’s Bently Reserve Conference Center to undertake their first journey as the universe’s most famous undertaker, Death, in the upcoming action-adventure title Darksiders II. Curses were issued, controllers were thrown, and fun was had—but after all was said and done, how did the dynamic duo feel about their first hands-on time with this hotly anticipated sequel? Ninja Gaiden 3

By
Posted on March 22, 2012 AT 01:58pm
As a gamer who grew up with the intense ninja action of Ninja Gaiden on the NES, I’ve got to admit that it’s bothered me a bit that controversial developer Tomonobu Itagaki has become synonymous with the franchise in recent years. After all, the series existed long before Itagaki’s arrival at Tecmo—he was still in college when the original trilogy released. So, I wasn't merely convinced that the series could work without Itagaki—I was actively looking forward to Ninja Gaiden without him. READ MORE

The Amazing Spider-Man

By

Since developer Beenox took over the Spider-Man franchise for Activision, they’ve put out a couple of great Spidey titles that gave fans of the wall-crawler hope for his future in video games. But now that they’re going to do a game based off of a movie instead of an original story, many are wondering if the developer will have enough wiggle room to produce the top-tier title fans have started to expect from them with the web-head. Kid Icarus: Uprising

By
Posted on March 19, 2012 AT 05:00am
Many of us who grew up with the NES fell in love with the idea of a little angel who was trying to save the heavens from a nasty demon with snakes for hair. Then we played this game and proceeded to throw and smash many a controller due to its later legendary unforgiving difficulty and would need to go to anger therapy for being turned into an eggplant over and over again. How would this long awaited sequel stand up to that legacy? Check out our review to find out! READ MORE

By

A few short years ago, RPGs like Tales of Graces f were, if not commonplace, certainly nothing out of the ordinary. But then a certain Great Recession hit, and companies suddenly became averse to investing a localization budget into games that weren’t guaranteed sellers. Can Namco Bandai’s venerable Tales RPG franchise find an audience in this new gaming economy? READ MORE
