The MotionSports series is Ubisoft’s attempt to give gamers a more realistic alternative to the Kinect Sports offerings while also providing a variety of different sports. Since Kinect Sports took a cue from several of the original MotionSports games and added football and skiing to their gamut of minigames this year, MotionSports decided to go a step further with Adrenaline and focus on extreme sports: mountain-climbing, kite-surfing, wingsuit-gliding, mountain-biking, kayaking, and the return of skiing. But could they fix their own flaws from their first go around? READ MORE

Comic book fans are easily some of the most rabid fans out there. Maybe it’s because of the history, maybe it’s the appeal of the characters, maybe it’s because of a lack of social skills developed in their mom’s basement, but whatever the reason, whenever something features comic book characters, the fans tear it apart. Well, good luck finding fault with this one. And trust me, being a fan myself, I tried. Check out our full review of Batman: Arkham City here! READ MORE

PowerUp Heroes, Ubisoft's superheroic Kinect offering, puts you in direct control of your Xbox 360 Avatar. You’re just going about your digital business when a spaceship crash-lands in front of you, and—in a scene that hearkens back to Hal Jordan’s origins as Green Lantern—a dying alien warns that a menace to the galaxy is on its way to Earth. Only by accepting and mastering this extraterrestrial’s potent power will you be able to overcome this global threat. READ MORE

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One

It’s exceedingly appropriate that this week’s EGMi: The Digital Magazine highlights our favorite arcade classics, because Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One would be right at home at Chuck E. Cheese’s circa 1992 alongside Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, The Simpsons, and X-Men. Few games in the two decades since have truly captured the hectic, nonstop, free-for-all multiplayer destruction of those experiences, but All 4 One offers the same teamwork, camaraderie, and competitiveness—all that’s missing is a disturbing animatronic rat peering menacingly from above. When I was a child, among the various videogame-related publications that would show up in my mailbox every month, I had a subscription to Games magazine. It had nothing to do with this hobby we love to love so much—instead, it tested your mental abilities with a wide variety of logic puzzles. READ MORE

Real-world racing games typically come in two flavors: simulations that authentically recreate the driving experience, and arcade-style speedsters with simpler controls and more forgiving physics. Where does Forza Motorsport 4 fall? Check out our review to find out. READ MORE

When a zombie outbreak hit Fortune City, the quiet, stoic Chuck Greene saved the day. But he was no Frank West—the photojournalist extraordinaire who saved the Willamette Parkview Mall in the original Dead Rising. Greene didn’t tote around the swagger, charisma, or camera we know and love from the original zombie bloodfest back in ’06. So now that the spotlight is back on Frank West, how does he hold up all this time later in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record? READ MORE

My tastes may trend toward anime-infused RPGs, but whether it's the space duels in Star Fox on the N64, the legendary humans-vs.-Kilrathi matchups in Wing Commander on the PC, or the cartoony jet action of Airforce Delta Strike on the PS2, I’ve always loved a good dogfight. And I’ve certainly enjoyed the Ace Combat series in the past—Namco Bandai’s formerly distinctively Japanese dogfighter that’s now taking a more realistic, Western-inspired bent along the lines of Call of Duty. So, how does this new Ace Combat stack up? READ MORE

So this review is a little late, I know. But the console versions of this game that coincided with the release of the Thor movie really had me scared to sit down and try to get through this 3DS version, which was released at the same time as the movie on DVD/Blu-Ray in September. After reluctantly picking up Thor’s hammer once again though, I can say that Thor: God of Thunder for the Nintendo 3DS is below average, but somehow that’s still better than it’s high-powered console brethren. I think it’s every geek’s dream to develop superpowers in some way. And so like moths to flame we are drawn to games where we can not only play as our favorite heroes but can craft our own personal character in the universes we have come to enjoy through various forms of media. So as a diehard X-Men fan, I was particularly stoked about the release of X-Men Destiny. But could it live up to my lofty expectations? READ MORE

When you build your game around a novel core mechanic, you’d better make damn sure it’s easy to grasp, simple to learn, and fun to keep using. Bionic Commando’s famous grappling arm is probably the most famous example—even though the game’s lack of a jump button forced players to rethink the way they navigated the traditional side-scrolling platformer back on the NES, it felt intuitive enough that swinging through levels eventually became second nature. The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection

While maybe not one of gaming’s most pressing questions, it is still a point of contention among many in the industry: When videogames are remade, is it harmless pandering to nostalgia, or is it hurtful to an entertainment medium that needs more originality and freshness in its output, not less? I walked away from my time with The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection at least sure of one thing—if there is an argument for remakes, this collection sure as hell is it. READ MORE

My friend Todd and I have a little game we play whenever there’s a goal in a real-life soccer match we’re watching: Do we classify it as a “Pro Evo goal” or a “FIFA goal”? There’s a definite difference, you see. Pro Evo goals are beautiful, fluid moments of inspiration that flow seamlessly into the natural course of a match—true-to-life bolts of genius that strike out of nowhere. FIFA goals, on the other hand, look like generic runs into the penalty area, punctuated by shots just past the keeper. So could FIFA finally level the playing field? READ MORE

At one point in my life, I was a master of the Resident Evil series’ legendarily clunky “tank controls”—the esoteric, inverted maneuvers that led many to give up, frustrated, within minutes of getting munched on by their first zombies. But what others found confounding, I found logical at the time; the controls even managed to regularly invade my sleep. But could they stand up to a decade long test of time? READ MORE
