Two things we love – 1) excellent video games and 2) when independent folks ‘go big’. Both of these elements factor into the upcoming Gearbox game Borderlands 2. The first Borderlands shared in both fan praise and financial reward – something not every new IP receives so it was a no-brainer that we’d see more from the development team.
This time around Gearbox enlisted the help of Anthony Burch to write Borderlands 2 from start to finish. Burch is probably most well-known as part of the surreal and entertaining web series ‘Hey Ash Whatcha Playin‘ in which he and Ash talk video games. Anthony was also part of the web series ‘Anthony Saves The World‘ on The Escapist which was made by Mike Neumann, Creative Director of GearBox Software.
Collaborations that form organically like this in the gaming industry deserve a vote of confidence – not to mention Borderlands 2 seems like twice the fun of the original. We had a chance to interview Anthony Burch during our hands-on time of Borderlands 2 at the E3 Expo 2012 to discuss the writing process and the challenges of penning the fan favorite Claptrap.
