Gaming Under the Influence #7 ~ August 16th 2012

NOTE FROM THE WRITER: We are going to work on doing this weekly series adding a once a month video. If you have any suggestions for games you want to see, e-mail the writer at Ken@DigitalNoob.com

One thing a lot of the adults have learned is that when you grew up, your Mountain Dew’s and Bawls Energy Drinks have turned into beer and Jack & Coke’s. A lot of us still play the party games, but things have progressed from the days of Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo. Welcome to the world of Gaming Under the Influence, where we introduce you to some craft beers, interesting drink concoctions, and video games that you can turn into drinking games.

Each week we will concentrate on a system and rotate it every week between all consoles and of course PC games. This week we dive into PC, Xbox, and PlayStation with the great series Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Feel free to use anyone, but we think #3 is the best. This game will make you try your hardest to wait until the last second to score that ultra combo you’ve been practicing, as beating someone with that combo makes them drink more!

Week #7 Game- AlcoHAWKlic (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater)

This can be played with 2-4 players
Rule #1- Every time you bail, you must take a drink
Rule #2- If you are in last place after the 2:00 minutes, you must take a drink
Rule #3- If you’re opponent overtakes your score by you using a combo passed the two minute mark, you must take the loser shot. (this only means that after 2:00 is over, the loser must be BEATING the winner, and his last second combo won him the game)
Rule #4- If there are people waiting to play, cycle out the last place person, they can get you more beer!

Week #6 Concoction- Black Hawk (Cocktail)

Shake the following in a shaker/blender. 2 oz Bourbon, ½ oz Lemon Juice, ½ oz of Sloe Gin, and 1 Tsp of Superfine sugar. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry. This is straight from the Jim Beam collection

Week #6 Loser Shot- Combo #3 (Also known as the Three Wise Men)
Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, and Jose Cuervo. Three men on their own can taste delicious, but the second you mix the three together turn into a mouth beating you’ll never want to take again. Three equal parts of each, slam, and hope your friend doesn’t beat you again.

Week #6 Beer- Wormtown Brewing Co. ~ Pro Am Porter

Out of Massachusetts, the Pro-Am selection from the Wormtown brewery is probably one of the best, as along with the standard Porter, you can get the Cinnamon, Coconut, or Nutmeg Porters as well. Definitely a great collection when you’re at the brewery, but I suggest drinking this English Porter out of a bottle. The milk chocolates are delicious in the mouth and the 6.8% ABV is hidden by the wonderful taste. The beer is very malt forward but it’s not very sweet or overly roast-y. Trust me when I say this is one of my favorite beers out there.

That will do it for this week do it today. We want you to drink responsibly and always have a place to crash or a designated driver if you intend on drinking too much.
