Just recently Activision has announced that they will be working on an FPS game based on the AMC series “Walking Dead”. The game will be developed by Terminal Reality and will focus on brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon as they try to make their way to Atlanta, a supposed area of safety. Players will control Daryl while attempting to get past zombies that are capable of detecting them with sight, sound and smell. This will leave players with the choice of either sneaking their way past them or fighting them head on. Activision states that “No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”
In the vein of survival horror games, players will have to carefully manage ammo, food and supplies as they try to beat the game. In what seems like a situation reminiscent of the old game Gain Ground, Daryl will come across many other characters along the way. These characters will either help or hurt them along the way. The choice to have them accompany Daryl is completely up to the player and “represents some of the major decisions that will constantly be made while fighting to survive.” (My assumption is that if you come across Carl… you should leave him. He never stays in the house anyway.)
Walking Dead is expected to release around 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. For more information on this game, keep an eye on their official website for the game. Feel free to also check out the latest announcements on the The Walking Dead TV show as it awaits it’s return to AMC for a third season this year.
