Arcade-Authentic “Donkey Kong” Available… If You Buy A Digital-Release 3DS Game
Posted on October 1, 2012 AT 12:36pm
Certain ones, to be sure.
Donkey Kong has had a storied past when it comes to consoles. Colecovision had a port before the Nintendo Entertainment System did. When Nintendo finally released their own copy of the title, it was missing 1/4th of the levels. In a four-level game, that’s a significant chunk gone. The Pie Factory, as it came to be known, was missing from the title due to space limitations. Later in the console’s life, the space wouldn’t be an issue, but early on proved problematic.
Probably. They may have also had some coding problems, but who knows.
Most ports of the title have been of the NES port, not the Arcade one. It was available with special Wii bundles in Europe and Japan, but Donkey Kong: Original Edition, but now, is available on the 3DS E-Shop.
… if you buy a certain title. Nintendo has announced that Art Academy: Lessons For Everyone! and Crosswords Plus will come bundled with the game, if you buy them digitally. Reportedly, Style Savvy: Trendsetters, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, and Paper Mario: Sticker Star also come with the title.
Nintendo previously encouraged players to buy digital titles with double coins for Club Nintendo. Obviously, Nintendo promotes games that make more sense to have on you all the time.
