Oh, if you don’t know who Shinya Arino is, you’re severely lacking in your Japanese game culture.

Arino, known as the “Retro Game Master” (at least, that’s how his title has been translated in America), plays old video games. That’s it. Well, he does explore Japanese game culture, from checking out arcades, shops, and the like. He interviews gaming celebrities, such as Hideo Kojima.

He was the star of two games, the first of which came to America as Retro Game Challenge (the sequel is unlikely to come to America, due to poor sales of the first). He’s the star of Game Center CX, which has had a limited set of episodes air online in America as Retro Game Master. This series of episodes will be coming out on DVD October 2nd, and in promotion of it, Arino filmed a English-language spot for the release, TinyCartridge reports.

Arino also, apparently, does not speak English well.
