IDW Publishing really went all out for the inaugural issue of the new comic series for Mars Attacks. Using the original artwork from the Topps trading card series, they released 56 single issue covers. They also released a box set collecting all 56 covers, as well as an exclusive 57th, all of which have sold out, selling over 55,000 copies of this first issue, leaving less than a thousand remaining in the initial printing.
The John Layman and John McCrea product brings back a cult favorite, with the Martian overlords coming to Earth to enslave us all. This modern version of the classic story has already, judging by the sales of the book, made a major impact in the comic book world. No news yet on a second printing of the first issue, but IDW has announced a new entry into the Mars Attacks Franchise.
Coming October 24th, Christmas is under siege with Mars Attacks The Holidays. This special one shot, with stories by Dean Haspiel, Fred Hembeck, Ian Boothby, and Bill Morrison, will feature Martian mayhem against beloved holiday icons in this special 48 page issue.
Some great news for fans of enslavement, with Mars Attacks back in full swing. Pick up a copy (if you can find one, supplies are very, very light at the moment), or be destroyed!
