Can you imagine playing a shooter that’s over ten hours long? Anything over ten hours is a huge feat and it looks as if Gearbox’s Borderlands 2 is taking this by the horns. In an exclusive interview with Gamerzines, Steve Gibson said,

“What we like to think about it is, Borderlands is a hobby. Some guide guys just did a playthrough of Borderlands 2 and they reported back to us that it takes 58 hours to play through the campaign – and that’s just one playthrough with one character,” Steve revealed to us proudly.

“So the depth with which people can get into that…Yeah we look at it as a hobby, and that isn’t even counting the new Badass Points system and how that’ll affect every character you do. We want it to feel like you get more for your money, we’re happy for people to pay their money once and feel that they get ongoing value.”

The Badass Points System allocates players tokens when they perform miraculous feats in Borderlands 2. With these tokens, you will be able to purchase extra damage when killing some baddies, increase your rate of fire when pummeling bullets into enemies, buffs for your characters, and other special abilities. To make the game even easier and/or more enjoyable is that these abilities and buffs will stack so you will be a lean-mean killing machine in no time.

I never got around to beating the first Borderlands, but I can not wait to get my hands on Borderlands 2. Now I just need to find friends who will sit with me for fifty-eight hours for one game. With the campaign lasting this long, what character are you going to play as first?
