Boston Festival of Indie Games Is Awaiting Your Submission
Posted on July 30, 2012 AT 05:58pm
Boston Festival of Indie Games is accepting independently developed video games for their showcase on September 22nd at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The festival is being co-presented by the MIT Game Lab and Boston Indies, and is free to the public.
Games will be reviewed and selected by an all-star panel of judges from Boston area game companies and organizations. The line-up includes Paul Neurath, creative Director for Zynga Boston, Tim Stellmach, senior designer for Harmonix, Eitan Glinert, creative director for Fire Hose Games and Philip Tan, U.S. Executive Director for the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab. The full list of curators can be found on the festival’s website.
“As the festival began to take shape, the organizers realized that we would get a great variety of submissions, both digital and non-digital games. It was obvious that we needed a curation panel who would be knowledgeable in a wide range of games, from mobile platforms to board games,” said Clara Fernández-Vara, festival curation chair and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab. “Fortunately, there is a world-class group of game developers in the Boston area who have graciously accepted to lend us their time and expertise in identifying the best games for the showcase.”
Boston Festival of Indie Games is focused on creating an intersection between community, academic and independent interests in game play. Submissions will cost $15, but will only be $10 for students. Voting on the accepted games will be open to the public in a variety of categories during the event. Non-digital games (street, interactive or tabletop games) can be submitted to the festival in a non-fee and non-competitive basis.
Have a game that you want to submit, head over to the festival’s site to find out how. Final game entries are due no later than August 10th.
