Athletes and superheroes are very similar in a lot of ways, especially in the mind of acclaimed comic book writer Brian Wood (who is also the writer of the terrific Dark Horse Comics series The Massive). Combining a world of the future where everything is instantly scrutinized where sports and war are two of popular cultures biggest obsessions, one person stands out from the crowd. Model and athlete Mara Prince had it all, and then she manifested superpowers  on live television.

Focusing on Mara, Wood and artist Ming Doyle show the fickle nature of the world, with their protagonist going from the top of the world to being talked about for all the wrong reasons.

Mara will be available from Image Comics on December 26th.
