CD Projekt Red Launch Studio Blog

Posted on August 6, 2012 AT 07:19am

CD Projekt Red today announced via a press release that they are launching their very own studio blog at They explain that the purpose of the blog is to ‘inform about the studio and its products by a series of “making of” articles, inside materials and fun facts.’ There are currently only two blog entries to speak of, one of which is a welcome article, the second entry and the more interesting one informs readers on the development of the standalone Witcher 2 cinematic entitled ’52 and a half’. The article describes how Geralt of The Witcher series is a popular figure in Poland but outside of that, isn’t particularly well-known. During the production of The Witcher 2 for the Xbox 360 part of the studio decided it would be ‘a good idea to show the White Wolf to others in a short clip made with the REDengine.’ The rest of the article chronicles the development of the cinematic from initial ideas to the creation of two 2D animatics. This is only part one of the making of 52 and a half, so be sure to check back soon for the next entry in the series.

It’s great to see developers reaching out to their audience and sharing the development behind the work they create. We reported recently on Santa Monica Studio’s second feature in their series ‘Monsters of Ascension’, where lead concept artist ‘Izzy’ described the creative process behind his work and it appears CD Projekt Red want to do the same. Keep it coming guys!

CD Projekt Red are a game developer based in Warsaw, Poland responsible for the critically acclaimed Witcher series based on the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski. They are currently working on a new RPG called ‘Cyberpunk’ in-conjunction with other unannounced projects.
