As most of you may know, Chris Jericho has been suspended from WWE. If you don’t know the reason as to why, it’s because during a live show on May 24th in Sao Paulo, Brazil; CM Punk was waving the Brazilian flag only for Jericho to take it from Punk, crumble it up like a piece of paper, and kick it to the side. While we all know Jericho is a heel and this is sports entertainment, he was obviously just trying to provide more hate towards his character; but what he did was an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag. The situation escalated a bit when Brazilian authorities let WWE and Chris Jericho know of the illegal action he did during the match and stopped the show until either he apologized to the crowd or was arrested.
Chris quickly went out and apologized to the people of Brazil but because of this incident, WWE has suspended Chris Jericho for 30 days.
Jericho was currently starting a feud with Randy Orton as he hit him with three Codebreakers on the May 21st edition of Monday Night Raw. What may have been a good feud and great match at the next PPV, No Way Out, is now delayed or put on the backburner. It also doesn’t help that Jericho will be leaving after Summerslam to do some tours with his band Fozzy, only to make another return later on, hopefully.
Since coming back to WWE in January and having some grade A matches with CM Punk and a solid performance in the Fatal 4 Way match at Over the Limit; he’s been on a 5 PPV match losing streak and unable to win the Royal Rumble, win in the Elimination Chamber, nor capture either the WWE Title or the World Heavyweight Title. What was supposed to be the “End of the World” has become more of the “Biggest Disappointment in the World”. While I don’t want to blame Jericho entirely, his mic skills are awesome even after that “okay” skit involving CM Punks family, it would almost seem like WWE Creative has no idea what to do with him.
We can only wait and see what will be of Chris Jericho by the end of the summer and hopefully he can prove his case in being known as “The Best in the World, at what he does” sooner rather then later.
