EA Sports NHL ’13, following the path of franchises such as Madden, held a fan vote for the cover of the newest installment of the franchise. After there were nearly 26 million votes cast, the result is in. Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux has been selected as the cover athlete for NHL ’13.

After beating out Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne, Giroux earned the right by the slimmest of margins. The one percent difference in the voting was the closest of the competition, making it a fitting end to the inaugural cover vote for the series.
