The reason why certain projects work is because those creating them do so earnestly. Christopher Nolan brought batman to the big screen in an earnest way, there were no in jokes or tongue in cheek moments. You believed in the world, the characters, the narrative and most importantly the source material was treated with respect. The reason the new Alien game may work is because the developers seem to be taking the same approach. They are respecting the source material with almost fanatical devotion. In a gameplay video released last year, a developer is narrating and his knowledge as well as enthusiasm for that universe is apparent throughout. Looking at the gameplay videos, the attention to detail is fantastic. The look, lighting, weapons and the locations all have been crafted with so much care.

The game will be released February 2013 on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
