Corpse Party is a surprisingly long-running adventure/horror franchise in Japan. Why is it surprising?

It’s almost two decades old, and it took until last year for the first one to reach America. Corpse Party, released as a digital exclusive for the PSP, came out last year. A sequel to that title, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, has been announced for the winter this year (or early next year, technically) for America, with Europe shortly thereafter.

The new title promises more scares in the same world, and while it’s a PSP title, it should be playable on the Vita soon enough, if not at launch.

In celebration of this announcement, the original Corpse Party will be down to $9.99 on the PSN starting tomorrow for two weeks.
