Lots of great news on the comic book front recently, with several of the major companies bringing forth lots of great information about some very important titles. Dark Horse Comics has announced two major titles that will be coming to the company. To celebrate Will Eisner week, a brand new hardcover edition of Eisner’s Last Day In Vietnam will be released, and the Portland-based company will celebrate two major events for the celebration. This hardcover edition will release on March 6th, a day which would have been the ninety-fifth birthday of the legend himself.
Also coming from Dark Horse is Jungle Tales OfTarzan, a new graphic novel that is based of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic Tarzan Of The Apes stories. Released through Sequential Pulp Comics, a subsidiary of Dark Horse that specializes in classic and pulp literature. With Martin Powell at the helm as writer, this series will focus on original work within chapter eleven of the classic Tarzan Of The Apes. No release date has been released just yet, but details will be coming soon.
Image Comics is restarting the Joe’s Comic’s imprint, launching a series of brand new titles to go with the new imprint. Coming May 1st, the first new series to come from the revitalized Joe’s Comics is Ten Grand, a series about protagonist Joe, a mob enforcer, who on his last job before getting out of the industry gets into a lot more trouble than he originally planned for. Joe’s last job goes wrong, getting himself and the love of his life, Laura, killed, and after given the opportunity to get five minutes with Laura for being brought back to life and working for the underworld, Joe’s life changes in a major way. The series will be written by creator J. Michael Straczynski, with artwork by Ben Templesmith.
Monkey Brain Comics is also making a return, this time through IDW Publishing. These digital comics can now be found through IDW, starting with Chris Roberson and Dennis Culver’s Edison Rex in June. More comics are soon to come, so fans of Monkey Brain can now get their fix of great Monkey Brain titles.
