E3 2012 – Xbox Briefing Play-By-Play

By

A play-by-play of the Xbox Media Briefing at E3 2012.

  • Briefing opened with an awesome preview of Halo 4, which will go on sale in November.  The game looks to be amazing and it gave me the chills. It will be shipping for the holiday season of 2012.
  • Today is all about the 360, putting down any talk of 720, but through the magic of Kinect.
  • Ubisoft’s Toronto branch gives a Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: BlackList preview. BlackList will take place near the Iran/Iraq border, and will feature single player, co-op and spies vs mercs mode. BlackList includes the Kinect in gameplay with voice commands. Player actions still require the controller. It will be shipping in Spring 2013.
  • Madden NFL 13 and FIFA 13 going to Kinect and controlled by voice commands.
  • Joe Montana joins to promo the voice commands for Madden NFL 13 on the Kinect. Players will be able to call their own plays, along with using the controller to guide their team.
  • Fable: The Journey for Kinect trailer. Holiday 2012 release.
  • World premiere trailer for Gears of War: Judgment. No release date announced.
  • Trailer for Forza: Horizon which is due out on October 23, 2012.
  • Bing search for movies and TV by genre and title offered content from Netflix, Hulu, etc. Coming in the fall update.
  • Nickelodeon, Paramount Movies, Machinima, Univision are all coming to Xbox Live.
  • NBA Gametime and League Pass (offering 2,400 live games) and NHL (offering 40 games per week), along with it’s Gamecenter, coming to Xbox.
  • ESPN offering 24/7 coverage – ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, ESPN U. All in live and in HD.
  • Possibility to view different sports games in split screen.
  • Xbox Music offers 30 million tracks. Will be released on Xbox, Windows 8 PCs, tablets, and phones. I’m guessing Zune is going bye-bye.
  • Nike + Kinect Training, a new fitness program that provides instant feedback bringing training methods of professional athletes to everyone. Set phone to remind you when to work out and receive health evaluations monthly.
  • Xbox SmartGlass allows content to sync from portable devices, like Windows 8 tablets to TVs. If you start watching a show on your tablet, you can pick right back up with it on your PC. Provides additions to your games via your tablet and phone, as well as turning your phone into a remote control. It also turns any TV into a Smart TV.
  • Internet Explorer is finally coming to Xbox, and again you can use your phone as a mouse.
  • Crystal Dynamics gives a preview of the new Tomb Raider. First DLC available exclusively on 360.
  • World premiere exclusives of Ascend: New Gods from Signal Studios,  LocoCycle from Twisted Pixel coming in 2013, and Matter, made for Kinect, launches 2013.
  • World premiere of new Resident Evil 6. Zombies and Zombies and Zombies, oh my!
  • Exclusive game to Xbox Live, Wreckateer, for the Kinect. Launching this summer.
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth premiered by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. First time that they had to map out the town of South Park.
  • Dance Central 3 premiere accompanied by a performance from Usher. Dance Central footage on-screen with Usher singing and dancing to it.
  • Call of Duty – Black Ops 2 gameplay video. Might have just turned me around on my negative stance of Black Ops.
