One of the biggest names in Sony’s stable of exclusive studios is Quantic Dream, known for their visually breathtaking games such as Heavy Rain and for some of their great work really showing off the power of Sony’s consoles. Their gaming follow up to Heavy Rain , Beyond: Two Souls is another one of the stunning games that plays very much like Heavy Rain, but looks substantially better and has a much more engrossing story. Starring Ellen Page and Willem DaFoe, this game is one of the more odd games to be shown off at E3, only because the original trailer and the available playable game looks like two completely different projects.
That being said, this game is beautiful and plays very well, allowing for the two play types (Page’s character Jodie and the spirit inside of her, Aiden) to work very well together. This dynamic allows for a lot of puzzle solving through use of the two characters, as well as what will likely be a lot of story progression.
In the half hour or so demo played at E3, Jodie, the solider, used her own skills as well as Aiden to attempt to assassinate a member of a foreign military, and it was gorgeous. This game is highly anticipated, and for good reason. This game was a treat to play, and when it releases later this year, fans should be quite happy with another story-heavy Quantic Dream game.
