The final content to be released as part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass brings a new adventure featuring Tiny Tina as a dungeon master. Assault on Dragon Keep is set as a tabletop game being played by Tina and the original vault hunters. As the intro video played, a wave of sadness rushed over me as Tina still can’t cope with the loss of Roland. She is in denial that he is gone, and this game is her way of coming to terms with that. Much of the dialog is both hilarious and somber at the same time, and this is why this DLC is the most impressive of everything that Gearbox has released so far.
Gearbox has gone above and beyond what they added in the other DLCs by revamping just about everything in the game. Dice rolling now plays a part in many loot chests, new slot machines have been added that run on eridium, and even the vending machines have a new look and new dialog. Thanks to all these changes, Assault on Dragon Keep feels like an entirely new experience. With the slot machines and a few other surprises, eridium has more uses than ever, so you’ll never be stuck with too much eridium again (especially those of us who are addicted to the slot machines).
This DLC also features entirely new enemies. You’ll face skeletons, knights, orcs, and trees just to name a few, and each of these has many different variants. Some of these enemies can be pretty tricky to take down, and I won’t spoil the challenges you’ll face against the likes of an immortal skeleton! As in previous DLC, some factions are enemies with each other, and you’ll might find yourself in the middle of a battle between orcs and trees.
Assault on Dragon Keep looks to be the most impressive DLC yet for Borderlands 2. It’s set to be released on June 25 and is included in the Season Pass.
