The Merc With A Mouth has his own game, and according to the man himself, it’s awesome. Coming from High Moon Studios, this game features the Crimson Comedian himself, hacking, slashing and generally being insane. But is it as awesome as Deadpool thinks it is?
The short answer is: Kind of. There is a lot to love about this game, especially if you’re a fan of the character. Written by longtime Deadpool writer Daniel Way, the feel is there, though they turned the maturity level up to eleven, giving voice actor Nolan North the ability to curse without the annoying symbols that come with comic book dialog (something they exploit fully).
The game looks and feels completely authentic, the character is just as he claims, and the game itself has all the Deadpool goodness that fans have come to know and love. The controls are solid, and while the in-game graphics are a bit lacking, the ridiculousness is at an all time high, making it a very fun experience. A hack and slash game if there ever was one, this game, while mainly geared towards the many fans of the character, make this a solid game, especially considering the supposed (this quote coming from one of the reps from Activision during E3) two year process it took to make the game.
Main point: if you love Deadpool, buy this game immediately when it releases on June 25th. If you’re not a huge fan, this may not appeal as much as other games out there. Great fun, great representation, pretty standard execution, judging from the twenty minutes spent playing. Highly suggested, however.
