E3 Hands-On Preview: BandFuse: Rock Legends

Posted on June 5, 2012 AT 09:28pm

BandFuse: Rock Legends is another in the long line of upcoming music games, but, like its predecessor, Rocksmith, it utilizes the use of a real instrument. Unlike Rocksmith, however, BandFuse takes it one step further, adding in the ability to use a microphone as well to get others in on the game.

Today at E3, a special hands-on demo was supplied to give a first-hand look at the game, which has a tentative release date of early next year, according to those working on the game.

While not looking the most pleasing aesthetically (the bottom half of the screen utilizes the fretboard, allowing notes to pass for the players to hit, like many similar games, while the top half is a kind of grainy official music video for the song), the guitar controls are very responsive. The way the notes are presented is very clear and easy to read, allowing for even novice players to figure out the basics, without having to have ever picked up a guitar before.

There is also the ability to change the difficulty setting on the fly, with the push of a button. A phrase too hard? Knock it down a peg. Too easy? Kick it up a notch. Along with the ability to pause the game, getting a static look at the upcoming notes, this game looks a bit easier to grasp than a game like Rocksmith, though it doesn’t look as pretty.

Be on the lookout for more information on BandFuse: Rock Legends as it comes.
